This is a ham-band only receiver, marketed from 1964 to 1968. The manufacturer of the Lafayette line was Trio which later became Kenwood. It is a double conversion receiver with a first i.f. of 3.5 to 4.0 kHz. The second mixer is followed by a mechanical filter (2 kHz bandwidth) at 455 kHz and two i.f. stages. There are 12 tubes: a 6BZ6 separately tuned preselector), a 6BL8 mixer and crystal controlled 1st oscillator, 6BE6 2nd mixer, 6BA6 local oscillator, two 6BA6 i.f. amps, 6BA6 crystal controlled BFO, 6AL5 AVC rectifier and ANL, 1N60 diode AM detector, 6AV6 1st audio, 6AQ5 audio output, 6AQ8 product detector and crystal calibrator, and an 0B2 VR tube. The power supply uses solid state rectifiers. |
