This radio includes several improvements. First, it is a superheterodyne, a superior circuit design that outperforms TRFs. Second, the dial is now calibrated in frequencies and it includes a "police band."
Starting in the 1930s, police stations broadcast police calls on the frequencies immediately above the broadcast band and it became desirable to "listen in." |
