Simpson's was a wholly owned division of Sears. The Sears name was not a "proud" name in Canada as it inferred American owned. The last Simpson without the 's was closed in Montreal about 1980. The 's was dropped in the 70s as it showed a possessive noun in English, which was, and still is, against the law in Quebec. Simson's became Simpson, and then it died. |
